Time for Kids Camp Out | FAQs

Time for Kids

Time for Kids is a unique South Australian charity. We match children up to 17 years with volunteer families and individuals who willingly give their time, care and support.

The core program of respite care carefully matches children and young people through tailored placements. These carers and mentors play a significant role in a child’s life over many years. These relationships complement and add to children’s existing family structures.

Through this unique program of volunteer care and support, children build resilience and the capacity to respond more positively to the challenges that can arise in life. It empowers and equips children and young people to set alternative aspirations for their lives, and to help them achieve these.

Time for Kids has matched and assisted more than 5000 children and their families since 1960.

Time for Kids Camp Out

Time for Kids Camp Out is camping fun, for a cause! Join us this October Long Weekend (2-4 October 2021) to help raise funds to raise much-needed funds for Time for Kids’ programs and services.

You can join as an individual, set up a team or join an existing team here.

What do I do on the Camp Out?

The fundraising starts as soon as you register on your personalised fundraising dashboard. Make a plan to camp out over the October long weekend in the great state of South Australia (or at home). Ask your friends, family and colleagues to sponsor your efforts (all donations $2 or greater are tax-deductible).

Then it’s time to Camp Out! Complete fun, creative missions from your Camp Out Guidebook to upload to your fundraising page and share on social media (#TimeforKidsCampOut).

Where do I go to camp?

You can camp locally, regionally or even at home! Once you register to participate, you’ll receive your free copy of the Time for Kids Camp Out Guide Book, with lots of suggestions for where to head right across the state. We have all our beautiful regions covered, including Adelaide Hills, Barossa, Fleurieu Peninsula, Eyre Peninsula, Far North, Yorke and Mid North, Limestone Coast, and Murray and Mallee. And, of course, the city of Adelaide itself!

Please remember that you may need to book some areas before you leave, so being organised is key! We also ask you to remain aware of the current evolving COVID-19 situation – however, if lockdown or restrictions are in place at the time, you can still camp out and have fun at home!

What if I can’t participate in the event?

Not up for a camping adventure? No problems, we’d still love for you to get involved!

You can either: donate, sponsor another participant or share the event to your social networks. Collateral to help you is available here.

How much does it cost to participate?

You can join Time for Kids Camp Out for just $10 plus Fundly platform fees. You can also donate more if you like – we’d love that!

The entry fee helps cover costs for Time of Kids for the fundraising platform, administration, liability insurance, printing, postage, and any other associated costs.

How do I pick a fundraising target?

With a host of fundraising initiatives out there, remember the FUN in fundraising!

Set your fundraising target, whether it be big or small, and make it achievable for you. And don’t worry if it’s small! Every dollar counts.

How do I raise funds during Time for Kids Camp Out?

Your fundraising efforts start as soon as you register! These are our top five tips for fundraising success:

  • Check out your Guide Book for more than 30 activities to complete. You can ask to be sponsored for each.
  • Inspire your team members to reach out to your village of friends and family to help reach your goal.
  • Keep it simple and easy for people to donate.
  • Share the link to your fundraising portal on social media or via email wherever you can. You could even add a link to your email signature at work!
  • Most importantly, don’t be afraid to ask. You’ll find people will happily support a good cause.

What should I post on my social media accounts?

Don’t limit yourself – get creative and let your personality shine. That’s what social media is for!

You could dig out one of your favourite camping photos and tell your networks why you’re camping for a cause. Better yet, tag your mates in a photo and ask them if they want to join!

Tell people about the last time something went wrong on a camping trip. Maybe you forgot the toilet paper?! Will it happen again on this trip? (We hope not.)

Whatever you decide to post, don’t forget to include the link to your fundraising page, otherwise people won’t be able to support you.

If you’re struggling to think of something fun and creative for your socials, don’t stress. We’ve done the work for you! Click here to find some sample posts you can share.

Which hashtags should I use?

Can my friends join my team?
